There is something violent/In the oh so graceful/ Something hidden behind the shroud of softness/ Beating its wings against the walls/ Cast by observant eyes/ Fighting behind layers of coloured fabric/ Behind the marble we say we are made of/ But we are not statues/ And this is not a gallery.

Five individuals struggle to find their place within the limits of traditional femininity. Some wonder if they are playing into stereotypes while others don’t seem to fit society’s expectations at all and feel isolated by it. ‘This is not a gallery’ explores the restrictions of femininity and our individual experiences of it as women and non-binary people.
